Life of Pi is directed by Ang Lee who created the groundbreaking story based on a book about a young man who survives a tragic disaster at sea and is hurled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned in a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ships' only other survivor, a fearsome, Bengal tiger. Suraj Sharma and Gerard Depardieu star.
This PG drama is an intense and unique journey, unlike any you've ever taken. I saw it in 3D and it was even even more amazing, breathtaking and visually stunning. From Pi's younger days at the zoo, to the storm and shipwreck and all the things that happened to Pi, this soulful, heart-pounding adventure explores faith, hope and love with sights and sounds that stay with you long after you leave the theatre.
Suraj Sharma: It has a lot that is common to everybody. You need that hope, you need that, you need that strength.
Ang Lee: We have to have that spiritual side; some kind of faith. I want to introduce that to other people.
Pi is a perfect coming of age masterpiece that mature, older kids to adults will enjoy. If you've read the book, you know that there is a plot twist in the end that is both heart breaking and profound; and it summed up the story perfectly by delivering one of my favorite lines in the film, "And so it goes with God." Pi is a beautiful masterpiece about a boy who survives an impossible situation that changes his life and his faith.
