I WAS BROKEN is an edgy faith-based drama about two brothers torn apart by a family tragedy. Jesse, a homeless-ex-convict with a hardened heart, walks the streets bearing the guilt of a life changing decision he made years ago, and his brother Wayne, a widower with strong faith, struggling with the memories of the life he once had. After a spiritual encounter spooks Jesse, he shows up at Wayne’s home. Together, they’re forced to deal with the lingering pain of the past, while trying to repair their relationship with God and each other.
I Was Broken
Dove "Faith-Friendly" - Recommended for ages 12 and over.
This movie stresses the importance of forgiveness and redemption. Wayne and Jesse were brothers but Jesse had a drinking problem and his problems lead to two tragic deaths. He and Wayne are at odds and Jesse is sent to prison. When Jesse gets out three years later he battles his drinking problem again and his suicidal thoughts. We are recommending this movie for ages twelve plus due to sophisticated themes and we are pleased to award it our Dove Seal. It features a nice scene near the end of a man reaching out to God in prayer and reading the Bible. Watch this one and soon.
Violence: Man pulls gun on girl; fist fights.
Drugs: Man draws blood from self for blood sugar reading; man gives himself insulin shot.
Other: A lot of arguments and tension between characters; death and grief; man urinates on side of road (not graphic); man vomits (heard); death and grief.
